Rowdy Bush Petite Sirah

How many times have you picked a bottle of wine based on the label? Well, that’s what I did here while walking through the local discount grocery store and saw that it was only $5.99, had a cool label and happened to be a Petite Sirah out of Lodi. The label reminded me a little about how life sometimes can get pretty stressful and you feel like your heads going to explode.
But you didn’t click on the link to hear my thoughts about the label. Let’s talk about the wine. It’s a pretty young wine, but the color is super dark. You’re not going to see through this one. It coats the glass very well with thick slow-moving legs. There are some very mild hints of black pepper, but over all I would say it’s a pretty mild wine for flavor.
The wine is medium bodied and pretty smooth from start to finish which is surprising for me based on the price. There is a small amount of spice on the ending but nothing to worry about. What was pretty impressive to me was that there really was no overpowering alcohol taste.
This wine is cheap, has a cool label and a decent taste. I wouldn’t recommend this to start the night out with your friends, but this is something that could easily be opened a bottle or two into the evening so that you don’t drink all of the good stuff. This also isn’t a bad option if you’re just at the house in the middle of the week and want something cheap to drink.
